"Papa" Hoyt Lamon Murphree, age 83, of Picayune passed away Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Highland Community Hospital.
Visitation will be on Monday, February 21st starting at 12 noon at Picayune Funeral Home until the time of the Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m., with Bro. William Gary Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
"Papa" was born in Houlka, MS and moved to Picayune from California forty-two years ago. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Maritime Service. He was a Chief Test Engineer for Rockadyne and a Baptist.
He is survived by his two daughters, Deborah L. Tate of Picayune ,Barborah S. Murphree of Picayune; four grandchildren, Dustin L. Murphree, Logan R. Stockstill, Michella Tate and Charlotte Tate ;three great-grandchildren, Nichole, Brittney and Jarret ;one great-great-grandchild, Kade.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Hazel Murphree ;his wife, Martha Sue Murphree; two daughters, Derenda J. Murphree and Lamondra M. Murphree.
