Obituary

Annie Lee Whitaker went home to be with the Lord and passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026, in Picayune, Mississippi. Born on February 26, 1931, in Natchitoches, Louisiana, Annie lived her life with unflappable devotion to those that she loved. She was a faithful wife and mother, a loving grandmother and for many years, a devoted Sunday School Teacher and member of Liberty Missionary Baptist Church. Her family was ever present in her heart and mind as every night; she drifted to sleep with the names of her loved ones on her lips and in her prayers. She suffered great losses in her life, but she retained that signature spark and endearing charm, forever capable of putting a smile on your face.

Annie was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Whitaker, and four children, Tony Whitaker, Ricky Whitaker, Phillip Whitaker and Patricia Lewis. She is survived by 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and two daughters-in-law. Annie Whitaker will be dearly missed and forever loved and while we mourn at this hour, we also smile as we imagine her great reunion in heaven.

Family, friends, and all those whose lives Annie touched are invited to pay their respects at Liberty Missionary Baptist Church, 261 Liberty Rd, Picayune, MS 39466 . Visitation will take place on Tuesday July 7, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 pm. Annie will be laid to rest in Liberty Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery immediately after the service.
