Obituary

Beverly Ann Odell, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devoted wife, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2026, in Kiln, Mississippi. She was born on June 17, 1928, in Keokuk, Iowa, beginning a long and richly lived life that touched many.

Beverly’s legacy is deeply intertwined with her family, whom she cherished above all else. She is survived by her devoted children Susan Dietsch (Fred), Douglas Odell (Kim), and David Odell; her grandchildren Amy, Andrew, Denise, David Jr., Ryan, and Melissa; her great-grandchildren Gunner, Kyle, Trevor, Lindsay, Hannah, Matthew, Shawn Jr.; and great-great-grandchildren Carson, Boston, and Blaze. Each of these family members is a testament to Beverly’s enduring spirit, guidance, and the love she showered upon her family every day.

She was preceded in death by her husband Walter J. Odell, her son Kurt Odell, and her brother Ralph Baker. Their memories, along with Beverly's, remain etched in the hearts of all who knew them.

Throughout her life, Beverly found immense joy in simple pleasures and cherished traditions. She was an avid reader, found delight in old movies—with "Gone With The Wind" and "The Wizard of Oz" holding special places in her heart—and thoroughly enjoyed the music of Frank Sinatra. Beverly had a unique ability to bring stories from the past to life, often recalling vivid childhood memories, such as her remarkable travels in covered wagons. These stories, rich with history and nostalgia, captivated family and friends alike and established a treasured legacy.

Beverly’s faith was a guiding force throughout her life. A devoted member of The Church of Christ, Scientist, she was deeply involved in her church community. She served with dedication as both a Reader and the Organ Player for services, using her talents to contribute to the spiritual life of her congregation.

Among her proudest accomplishments, Beverly counted the raising of her children and grandchildren. She viewed her role in nurturing and guiding her family as her greatest achievement and found endless fulfillment in seeing them grow, flourish, and carry forward the values she held dear.
