Charles “Chuck” Farrell Stewart, Jr. was born on June 26, 1953, to Charles Farrell Stewart, Sr. and Ione Elizabeth (Risher) Stewart in Poplarville, MS. His stubbornness and affinity towards mischief were apparent, even in his early years, as he was constantly in some sort of trouble or experiencing many near-death experiences, much to his precious mother’s dismay. Thankfully, he survived them all but continued to raise hell throughout his college years while playing football at Pearl River Community College. He then went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering at Mississippi State University. Hail State! After graduation, he spent his years working many different engineering jobs, from building corporate buildings, to rocket engine test stands, to subdivisions. But the best thing he ever did was marry the love of his life, Patti, who helped to raise his four children who were the source of his pride and joy for the entirety of his life. Chuck was involved, sometimes overly so, in the sports and activities of his kids as they grew up and was affectionately known as “Coach Chuck” to many. He enjoyed spending his free time in numerous different social arenas throughout his life that included, but were not limited to, The Cypress House, Millbrook Golf & Country Club, the Superdome during Saints games, and perhaps the nearest and dearest to his heart, Southside Cafe. Later in his life, he enjoyed cooking for his family, and it would not be uncommon for any of his adult children to receive a call from him saying, “Hey, it’s your dad. I’m running by Sam’s. Can I get you anything?” He spent his final moments surrounded by his wife and his children, and he passed peacefully and pain free on June 17, 2025.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Farrell Stewart, Sr. and his sister, Judy Stewart Bruno.

Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife of 40 years, Patti Ziober Stewart; his children, Charlie Stewart, Chris (Katie) Stewart, Jeffrey (Amanda) Stewart, and Brittany (Nick) Everhart; his grandchildren, Parker Stewart, Leni Everhart, Troxlie Stewart, Oaklee Stewart, Liza Kay Everhart, Asher Stewart, Layla Everhart, and Wrenley Stewart; his mother, Ione Stewart; and his sisters, Lynda Powell and Natalie (Ron) Clements.

Instead of traditional services, the family has opted to commemorate his life in a private celebration to be determined at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff and providers at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport for the care they provided in these last few years of his life, as well as Gentiva Hospice and Picayune Funeral Home for making the transition to beyond as gentle as possible. We can take it from here, Pops!
