Crystal LaRue Collins

Crystal LaRue Collins, "lovingly known as Christy and Cricket", passed away on July 24, 2026, in Picayune, Mississippi. Born on December 5, 1968, in North Carolina, Christy brought light and laughter to the lives of those around her for 57 years.

Christy was a woman whose generous heart and incredible sense of humor shaped everything she did. Friends and family cherished her warmth and buoyant spirit. She had a rare gift for making others laugh, even in the most difficult of times, offering comfort and levity when they were needed most.

Those closest to Christy knew her as fiercely loyal and protective of her loved ones. Her love for her family was deep and unwavering, and she extended that love to many others whom she warmly accepted as family. The impact of her compassion and acceptance will remain an enduring legacy in the hearts of all who knew her.

Christy’s memory will be cherished by her parents, Mamie Van Dyke and John Collins; her siblings, Malinda Merkel and Robert Collins; her in-laws, Vic Merkel and Treasure Collins; her nieces and nephews, Madison McNair (Josh McNair), Matthew Merkel (Hallie Merkel), and Jackson Collins; and others who held a special place in her life, including her boyfriend of fifteen years, Jason Lee.

At the time of her passing, Christy was residing in Picayune, Mississippi—a place where she found home, comfort, and meaningful connection.

A private Celebration of Life will be held by family to honor Christy’s legacy and the joy she brought to all who knew her.

Her grace, humor, and steadfast love have left an indelible mark, and she will be deeply missed.
