Daniel Reed Tarter, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2026, in Carriere, Mississippi, at the age of 78. Born on October 4, 1947, in Port Sulpher, Louisiana, Daniel’s life was a tapestry woven with love, dedication, and quiet resilience.
Daniel’s journey was marked by strong ties to family and community. His heart found its home with his beloved wife, Carmalee Frances Tarter, who stood beside him for 49 years. Together, they built a life shaped by love, support, and shared dreams. Daniel was a devoted father to Brandon Tarter (Donna) and Joshua Tarter (Stacy), each of whom carry forward fragments of his strength, kindness, and sense of humor.
The joys of Daniel’s life were magnified by his grandchildren: Reed Tarter (Holly), Brandi Tarter, Joshua Gage Tarter (Maggie), David Blackwell, Cody Graeter (Ashley), and Dylan Hendricks; great- grand children Waylon Tarter, Leagan Tarter, Blair Tarter, Dawson Graeter, and Dallas Graeter. Daniel was also survived by his daughter Tina Tarter. In their laughter and stories, Daniel’s gentle guidance and steadfast spirit will be forever cherished.
His professional life reflected the value he placed on hard work and reliability; Daniel served as a mechanic for Stennis, dedicating his talents to a craft that brought him pride and satisfaction. He approached his work with the same unwavering dedication he brought to every aspect of his life.
Beyond his career, Daniel found happiness in simple pleasures. Whether tending the earth through yard work and gardening or simply being present with his family, Daniel’s contentment radiated most when surrounded by those he loved or the quiet beauty of nature.
Faith played an important role in Daniel’s life; as a member of Union Baptist Church, he nurtured lasting friendships and drew strength from his community of faith. Daniel’s presence in the church was felt in every handshake, every word of encouragement, and every moment of fellowship.
Though Daniel is now at peace, his memory is held close by those who survive him. He is now reunited with loved ones who preceded him in death, including Melvron Ray Tarter, Doris Jeffcoat Tarter, Keith Lynn Tarter, Clemon Daniel Jeffcoat, and Della Jeffcoat.
