Edith Marie Cortez

Edith Marie Cortez, born on January 19, 1949, in Lutcher, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025, in Picayune, Mississippi. Edith lived a fulfilling life as a proud stay-at-home homemaker, dedicated to her family and creating a loving home for them.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Louis P. Cortez Sr., with whom she shared 58 wonderful years of marriage. Edith was a devoted mother to her children, Louis P. Cortez Jr., Mary Marsh (Mike), Christopher Cortez, Kevin Cortez (Ashley), and Alan Cortez. Her loving spirit extended to her five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy.

Edith will be deeply missed by her siblings, Raymond, Earl, and Shirley, who cherished her presence in their lives. She also now joins her late father, Frank Laiche Sr., her mother, Sophie M. Laiche, her son David Cortez, and her siblings Frank Laiche Jr., Bruce Laiche, James Laiche, Alice, Gladys, and Margaret in eternal rest.

Edith had many interests and hobbies that brought her happiness; she particularly enjoyed flower gardening and watching her favorite soap operas. Her nurturing nature and love for her family will always be remembered by those who knew her.

A visitation for Edith will be held on Friday August 1, 2025 for 9AM for a Funeral Service to follow for 11AM at Picayune Funeral Home located at 815 S. Haugh Ave. Picayune, Mississippi 39466 followed by a burial at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
