Obituary

Edward “Eddie” John Kathmann, Jr. Obituary Edward “Eddie” John Kathmann, Jr. passed away peacefully at his home on August 21, 2026. Eddie was a resident of Carriere, Mississippi at the time of his passing. Born and raised in New Orleans, he spent over 38 years living in Chalmette, Louisiana until Hurricane Katrina. A proud public servant, Eddie dedicated his career to the New Orleans Police Department, where he served with honor and retired at the rank of Sergeant. His years in uniform reflected his deep commitment to protecting his community and supporting his fellow officers. He is preceded in death by his parents, Genevieve (Saltalamacchia) and Edward John Kathmann, Sr.; his motherinlaw, Elma Thibodeaux Neese; his grandson, Justin Paul Hanna; and his brother, Dennis James Kathmann. Eddie is survived by his wife of over 59 years, Brenda Neese Kathmann; his children, Joseph Edward Kathmann (Rachel) and Wendy Kathmann Quillin (Jack); and his siblings Ronald Richard Kathmann (Donna) and Richard Frank Kathmann (Charmaine). He is also survived by his grandchildren Joshua Peter Jenevein (Hayley), Cassidy Kathmann Altazan (Blaze), Tayla Warden, and Jasmine Warden; and his three greatgranddaughters, Haven and Charlie Altazan and Addison Marciante. Eddie leaves behind cherished lifelong friends Bennie and Glenda Caruso, Arthur and Betty Thompson, Trenee Machling, and his godmother Bernadette Saltalamacchia Cook. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to his hospice caregivers — especially Kayla, Katie, Debbie, and Minister Jacob — for their devoted care and compassion over the last several years. A Celebration of Life will be held by family on Saturday, September 12th, at Tammany Yacht Club, 1196 Harbor Drive, Slidell, Louisiana, from 3:00–6:00 PM.
