Ford Evans Jr. (92) of Picayune, MS went home to be with God on Wednesday May 8, 2024.
A lifelong resident of Mississippi, Ford was born to parents Ford Evans Sr and Ethel Mae Courtney Evans. He was a proud veteran, owned his own roofing company for much of his life, and worked for Kaiser Aluminum in Chalmette for 29 years.
Ford was a proud son, father, and grandfather who enjoyed many activities. He loved to read his bible, sing, fly kites, swim, play softball, horseback riding, bicycling, spend time with his family, and made sure to mow seven acres every week.
Ford is preceded in death by his father Ford Evans Sr., mother Ethel Mae Courtney Evans, sisters Maudean Evans Johnson, and Margaret Evans.
His memory will be cherished by his daughters Sharon Long (Mike) of Orange TX, Michelle Evans of Nicholson MS, Lynnette Provost of Nicholson MS, Joy Lenhard (Troy) of Bay St. Louis MS, brother Jimmy Evans (Wanda) of Bunkerhill MS, sister Annie Lois Sneathern (T.C) of Bunkerhill MS, 6 granddaughters, 1 grandson, 5 great grandsons, 1 great granddaughter, 4 great-great grandsons, and 1 great-great granddaughter.
The family would like to give a special thank you to all the caretakers & Gentiva Hospice for their love and support.
A funeral service in Ford’s honor will be held at Picayune Funeral Home on Monday May 13, 2024, at 1pm. Visitation begins at 11am.
Interment to follow privately at a later date.
