Francis Richard Hanlon, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on December 16, 2025, in Carriere, Mississippi. He was born on November 26, 1949, in Hawaii.
Francis proudly served his country as a Career Navy Veteran, dedicating many years of his life to protecting and serving. He was known for his generous spirit and his willingness to lend a hand to anyone in need. Friends often remarked that Francis would give the shirt off his back to help others.
Outside of his military career, Francis had a passion for hobbies that brought him joy. He enjoyed shooting darts, playing pool, and spending time fishing. These activities were not just pastimes for him; they were ways for him to connect with friends and family, sharing laughs and creating lasting memories.
Francis leaves behind his beloved sons, Patric Hanlon and Brian Hanlon, and daughters, Amanda McConnell and Vanessa Hanlon-Cannata. He is also survived by his previous wife and best friend, Sylvia Woodward. He took great pride in being a grandfather to Bailee McConnell, Piper Shaw, Lennon Herdina, Gianna Hanlon, Steven Cannata, Sarah Cannata, Leah Cannata, and Danielle Cannata.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Glennon Patrick Hanlon and Hazell Kneezle Hanlon, and his sister, Joyce Brown.
Francis Richard Hanlon will be remembered for his kindness, dedication to his family, and the joyful moments he created with those around him. His legacy of love and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
