Georgianna Mary (DeBruyn) Parks, born on July 9, 1949, in New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away on November 3, 2025, in Picayune, Mississippi. She is remembered for her fiery spirit and the passion she brought to her work and family.
Georgianna had a fulfilling career spanning from the late 1970s to the 1980s as a special education teacher at Allen Ellender Middle School. She dedicated herself to education and significantly impacted the lives of many students. Later, from the late 1980s until 2002, she continued her professional journey at Hudson Salvage.
Georgianna was preceded in death by her father, Melis DeBruyn; her mother, Georgianna Selser; her husband of 58 years, Benwood J. "Peewee" Parks Jr.; and her son, Benwood J. Parks III.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary A. "Angel" Lofton (Brian) of Picayune, Mississippi; her son, William "Bill" R. Parks of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; eight grandchildren: Jessica M. Lirette (Lonnie), Jacob Parks, Angel Parks, Aj Neff, Destin Parks, Nicholas Parks, Donavan Parks, Tyler Manners (Shylynn), and Mercedes Manners; and five great-grandchildren.
Georgianna's legacy will continue through her family, who cherished her love and guidance. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
A Graveside Funeral will take place at Gipson Cemetery in Picayune at a date to be determined.
