James "Jim" Warren Kennedy, a cherished member of the Picayune community, passed away on September 25, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on December 22, 1934, in Picayune, Jim dedicated his life to serving others, particularly through his career as a firefighter for the City of Picayune. His bravery and commitment in the line of duty left an indelible mark on his colleagues and the community he loved.
A lifelong resident of Picayune, Jim was not only a devoted firefighter but also an active member of the community. He was a charter member of the Boulevard Cruisers, sharing his passion for automobiles and friendship with fellow enthusiasts. Alongside this, he found joy in hunting and fishing, often spending his leisure time in nature, which further illustrated his deep connection to the environment around him. Jim was also a faithful member of Westlawn Baptist Church, where he nurtured friendships and participated in the spiritual life of the congregation.
Jim's legacy continues through his beloved family. He is survived by his daughter, Ann Archer (Ray); son, Charlie Fore (Peggy); and grandchildren, Chris Archer (Samantha), Justin Archer (Ashley), Raean Howell (Mike), Jeremy Fore (Kimberly), and Nikki Andrews (Dustin). His legacy further extends to his great-grandchildren, including Bently Archer, Roman Archer, Kenley Archer, Jon-Elyn Archer, Lincoln Archer, Brock Gramling, Jaycee Gramling, Heath Howell, Evon Howell, Dean Howell, Lawson Howell, Lila Howell, Montana Hunt (Mikey Bourgeois), Baylee Ladner (Ethan), Madison Ladner, Caitlyn Andrews (Cody Brown), Kimbell Fore (Lauren Waldrop), Rylee Fore (Dustin Seal), Camryn Fore (Hayden Peterson), Jace Magee, and Jackson Fore. He was also blessed with great-great-grandchildren Reese Durr, Rowan Charles Bourgeois, Charleigh Rose Seal, and Parker Kate Fore. His brother, Glen Kennedy (Bobbie), and sister, Rebecca Derbonne' (Jim), and a niece and nephew also survive him, cherishing their many memories of him.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, Lester and Reba Smith Kennedy, and his beloved wife, Mary Pearl Kennedy.
A visitation with family followed by a service will be held on October 1, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Picayune Funeral Home located at 815 S. Haugh Ave., Picayune, MS. A burial service will follow at New Palestine Baptist Church located at 2336 Palestine Road, Picayune, MS.
Jim's life was one of service, love, and commitment to his family and community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
