Lona Stockstill, a beloved mother and cherished friend, passed away on February 3, 2026, in her hometown of Picayune, Mississippi. Born on September 27, 1946, in Picayune, she lived a life rich with creativity, faith, and love.
Lona was a woman who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her deep love for Jesus was evident in her unwavering commitment to her faith and her passion for attending church, where she nurtured her spiritual growth and forged lasting connections within her community.
Lona is survived by her loving sons, Timothy R. Varnado and Norman Stockstill; her daughters, Karen Ott, Kathy Stockstill, Diane Pittman, and Sabrina Stockstill; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will carry her legacy of love and kindness forward.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dovil Stockstill; her mother, Ida Mae Jenkins; her sons, Harvey Dale Varnado, Johnny Ray Varnado, Kenneth Ray Stockstill, and Norval Stockstill; along with multiple siblings, all of whom have shaped her life and influenced the person she became.
A graveside service will be held in Lona's honor on Monday, February 9, 2026, at 10:00 AM at New Palestine Cemetery in Picayune, Mississippi, with the service officiated by Bro. Brad Hefner and Sister Bobbie Kennedy. In this serene setting, family and friends will come together to remember the warmth, creativity, and devotion that Lona brought into their lives.
Her legacy will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, a testament to a life well-lived filled with artistry, faith, and an abundance of love. Arrangements are under the direction of Picayune Funeral Home.
