Michael Edward Hoffpauir, also known as Boo/Booboo born on March 26, 1947, in New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. He leaves behind a legacy rich in love, camaraderie, and memorable moments that will remain etched in the hearts of those who knew him.
Boo dedicated a significant portion of his life to a fulfilling career at the Domino Sugar Refinery, from which he has since retired. His professional life was marked by hard work and dedication, characteristics that mirrored his personal life, where he cherished time with his loved ones above all else.
In addition to his career, Boo was passionate about the great outdoors, with hobbies that included duck hunting and deer hunting, pursuits that brought him joy and connected him with nature. He possessed a remarkable ability to entertain; he could sing any song from the 1960s, affectionately referring to them as "oldies but goodies." His musical talents extended to playing the harmonica, allowing him to bring smiles and joy to gatherings of family and friends. A devoted fan of Elvis, he appreciated the charisma and music of the King, often sharing his enthusiasm with those around him.
Boo is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Donnelly Hoffpauir; their daughter, Michele Whitfield and his son in law Derek whom he loved like his own son and his cherished grandchildren, Jacob Whitfield (Tiffani) and Emily Landrum (Cayne). Michael also leaves behind a host of great-grandchildren, including Elijah, Collin, and Avery. He is remembered fondly by his sisters, Winifred Carlson and Rebbeca Marin, as well as his brothers-in-laws, Larry Marin, Robert Donnelly Sr., Charles Donnelly, and John Donnelly Sr. His family circle includes his sisters-in-law, Catherine Perez, Toni (Rhea) Donnelly, Janice Hoffpauir, and Dara Hoffpauir, along with numerous nieces and nephews who will forever hold his memory close.
He was predeceased by his father, James D. Hoffpauir; his mother, Sylvia Hoffpauir; and his siblings, Linda Hoffpauir, Huffy (James) N. Hoffpauir, Kathleen Fabra, Carl K. Hoffpauir and brother in law, Mikie (Michael) A. Donnelly III. Though they are no longer with him, they played an integral role in shaping the man Boo became.
Michael Edward Hoffpauir's life was one filled with love, laughter, and an enduring spirit that will continue to influence and inspire his family for years to come. His memories and the lessons he imparted will remain alive in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be profoundly missed and always remembered.
