Mitzi Gay Norris, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend, peacefully departed this life on November 9, 2025, at the age of 69, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Picayune, Mississippi. Born on September 4, 1956, in Bozier City, Louisiana, Mitzi spent her formative years in Slidell, where she created a lifetime of memories and deep connections that defined her existence.

Mitzi's unwavering love for her family was the cornerstone of her life. With a heart full of grace, she affectionately referred to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as her "Hearts." Formally known as "Nanee" by those little lights of her life, she instilled in them values of kindness, faith, and resilience, which they will carry forward in her honor.

Mitzi's educational journey began at Slidell High School, from which she graduated in the Class of 1975. Her passion for learning took her to Bible College at MTI, where she graduated in 1991, fortifying the foundation of her faith that would guide her through both joyful and challenging times. Her love for God was everything to her, and her faith in Jesus Christ remained unwavering even amidst life’s obstacles. In her final days, she expressed her anticipation of meeting her Savior, saying she could not wait to hug Jesus—a testament to her strong faith and devotion.

For 51 wonderful years, Mitzi shared her life and love with her husband, Danny Norris, whom she met at the tender age of 15. Their enduring partnership is a beautiful story of love and companionship. Together, they raised a wonderful family, including their children, Michelle Rahaim and husband Chris, Danny Glen Norris II and wife Lisa, Bethany Levy and husband David, and Jared Norris and wife Eva. Each child has been deeply impacted by the values and traditions that Mitzi upheld.

As the years passed, her family grew to include ten grandchildren—Brianna, Brielle and husband Carson, Zachary, Katelynn, Victoria and husband Matthew, Micah, Caleb, Caden, Fischer and Jordan—and six great-grandchildren—Paisley, Serenity, Sage, Xalia, Lyric and Callum. She took immense pride in each of them, often crafting special moments to cherish together, whether it be through cooking, baking, or engaging in DIY projects that showcased her boundless creativity.

Mitzi was a formidable force; she embraced every day with enthusiasm, always on the move and ready to take on new challenges. Her talents in cooking and crafts were complemented by her can-do spirit, making her a beloved figure not only in her family but within the community as well. This was shown in her career as a Real Estate Agent from 1999 - 2005. She was very successful and even won a very prestigious award of "Million Dollar Agent".

She is deeply mourned by her family and all those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her parents, Robert and Barbara Gibbs, and her great-grandson, Preston Ordone, preceded her in death, but she leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue through her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Mitzi's remarkable life will take place on November 15, 2025, at Revive Church in Slidell, Louisiana. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM followed by a heartfelt celebration from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to honor a woman whose life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and family, as they come together to cherish her spirit and the everlasting love she had for each one of them.
