Robert Allen Crawley Jr., a dedicated firefighter and beloved family man, passed away on September 18, 2025, in Picayune, Mississippi. Born on July 6, 1939, in Richmond, Indiana, Robert lived a life filled with service, passion, and adventure.
Robert was known for his remarkable career as a firefighter in Richmond, where he served with bravery and commitment. He also had a distinguished military career in the Airforce. His experiences in both firefighting and aviation shaped him into a person who believed in the importance of a strong work ethic balanced with enjoying life’s pleasures.
A man of many interests, Robert showed his vibrant personality by being an enthusiastic runner; he participated in the New Orleans Crescent City Classic and famously recovered from surgery for one of the first artificial hips through running. A lover of motorcycles, flying Cessna Aircrafts, and single malt Scotch, he embraced life with gusto and shared his passions with those around him.
Robert was a proud father to his sons Matthew Crawley (Sandra) and Michael Crawley, and his daughter Michelle Graci (Kenneth). He leaves behind a legacy of love through his grandchildren: Kyle Crawley, Jessica Allnet, Brittany Crawley, Christina Dupuy, Christopher Crawley, Brianna Crawley, Brian Crawley, Mary Graci, and Marcus Graci, along with 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Artha Deena Crawley who passed in 1970 during childbirth to son Martin Fitzgerald Crawley whom he is also preceded in death by. Wife Jayanne Louise Crawley who passed in 2014, his father Robert Allen Crawley Sr., his mother Ruth Nichols Crawley, his sister Catherine Crawley, and grandchildren Erica Herbert and Brandon Crawley.
Robert Allen Crawley Jr. will be remembered not only for his contributions in service but also for his zest for life, his deep love for his family, and his indomitable spirit that touched everyone he met.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a date to be announced.
