Wilburn "Bill" Cousins Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on May 13, 2025, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Born on January 3, 1946, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, Bill lived a life marked by dedication, love, and a profound connection to the land and waters of the region he cherished.

For many years, Bill proudly served as a Tugboat Captain for Mississippi Valley Lines, where his hard work and expertise became the foundation of his distinguished career. Known as a jack of all trades, Bill possessed an extraordinary ability to fix anything that came his way—a skill that endeared him to family and friends alike. He was not just a worker; he was a devoted craftsman who approached every task with passion and determination.

Bill loved the great outdoors, finding joy in fishing and hunting. However, his fondest moments were often spent in the company of those he held dear, sharing his love for nature and the lessons it provided. An unwavering faith guided him throughout his life, and he never missed an opportunity to share the word of God with those around him, touching the hearts of many with his wisdom and kindness.

A proud Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War, Bill embodied the spirit of service and sacrifice. His legacy is one of resilience, honor, and compassion, principles he instilled in his family.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Viola Theresa Cousins, and their children: Wilburn "Billy" Cousins Jr. (Tiffany), Steve Cousins (Jamie), and Paula Davis (Lawrence). He also leaves behind his brother, Henry Cousins, along with his cherished grandchildren: Alix Cousins, Cameron Cousins, Abby Marie (Daniel IV), Adam Bealer (Tara), Zachary Bealer, Theodore "Teddy" Bealer (Taylor Archer), and Saxon Bealer. Bill’s legacy continues to grow with his great-grandchildren: Austin Walker, Ember Bealer, Oliver Bealer, Zelda Bealer, Griffin Bealer, Trinity Richard, Liberty Darby, Joshua Darby, Sophie Tardo, Isabella Marie, Grace Marie, and Elena Marie.

He is preceded in death by his stepfather Ralph Hunt biological father Frank Cousins Jr., mother, Ruth Hunt, and many brothers and sisters, who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms.

As we remember Bill, we celebrate a life rich in love and adventure, a life that lingered with laughter and warmth. He will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him, and his spirit will forever reside in the hearts he touched along the way.
